My new Angel is an Originals Cloe. This may not seem too exciting; however, I wasn't sure if I was going to get any further Angelz this year with everything that's happening, so I am pretty thrilled with her. I should probably say to begin with that she's preowned, and as is always possible with such old dolls, she's not perfect. In fact, I think she's the furthest from perfect that I have. I will discuss this at length in this post, starting with some photos.
Hello Lucy! You can see the first flaw here: a stain on her forehead. It's actually a significant dent, with the stain inside the dent. Scrubbing the stain didn't remove it at all.
I like the outfit, apart from the fact it actually has 2 rips, down near the leg holes. It hasn't shown well here, but there are horizontal pink stripes all the way down.
Here's a nice picture of the three of them. The pets came included, which seems to be more unusual now. They're in pretty good condition; in fact, I'm kind of surprised they all came from the same seller!
She's so cute sitting up. You can just about see some of her faults here too, like the slight stain on her lips and the missing paint on the edges of her hair. I have to admit that this might be my doing - I did wash her in overly hot water when she first arrived, and the plastic almost seemed to melt. It's possible it stripped some of the paint - it had no effect on the stains, however! You can't see the stains on her legs (one by each ankle) in this or any of the pictures, but they are there.
She's rejoicing in this one! She's so happy to finally join my gang.
Here's a little fun fact: a while ago, I decided that my next Originals Cloe would be called Lucy, as I think the name is perfect for a Cloe. However, it turns out that she is collector number 108, and I have number 107 too, and by chance I named her Lucia. So I have two consecutive Angelz, Lucia and Lucy! Now I can't imagine calling either of them by any other name, so this is just a little quirk of my collection.
I feel like I've maybe been excessively negative about Lucy. I was a little surprised by her condition, but I'm really pleased to have her. To be fair, she's one of the cheapest I've bought; certainly the cheapest since I resumed collecting in 2018, and of course with that comes risk. Although maybe I would have preferred her in slightly better condition, her defects make her unique amongst my now very large collection.
